Bilingualism

Practising bilingualism as early as nursery school offers the opportunity to children to assimilate, learn, know and make sense of another language with which they will be able to express themselves in the future.

The bilingual teacher

Bilingual teaching is planned according to a desired balance between French as the mother tongue and English.

In the morning, schooling is done in French for fundamental subjects. In the afternoon English takes the front seat for play-based teaching in the form of stories and games – and on an oral basis only. The students train their hearing in the sounds of foreign words. This sensitisation is performed by an English-speaking teacher.

As early as the “Petite Section” of nursery school, the school programme is, in part, delivered in English : music, sport, puzzles, yoga, thread work, English literature …

Bilingualism is built up gradually through the evolution of learning that occurs throughout the nursery school programme.
